Charlie had to go for his second round of vaccinations today. Anyone that has ever taken their child to the doctor for shots knows how heart breaking it can be. I think Mommy was more upset than Charlie was.
Jamie held his little arms and closed her eyes. I held his chunky legs and prepared for the scream. As the nurse quickly injected three shots into Charlie's thighs his lungs opened up. He let out a terrible cry that could break anyone's heart. Luckily he is tough and the crying didn't last for long. After a nice long nap, everything was just fine.
It was confirmed that Charlie has a few teeth about ready to poke through. He is drooling like his life depends on it. He is chewing on everything that he can get in his mouth. Fingers, toys, blankets, nothing is safe from those chops.
While we were waiting to be called back to the exam room, our little stud muffin spotted a little Philly that was about his age. The charm was turned on. He gave her the eye and started flexing. If he were a peacock I am sure that his feathers would have been up. I think that I heard Charlie say, "Hey Baby." We are going to have our hands full with this little flirt.
Our giant of a child weighed in at a healthy 17 pounds and measured 26 inches in length. He will be taller than me by the time he is in the 5th grade at this rate.

Bed Wetter!
I woke up at 5am this morning to a very wet feeling on my legs. At first I just thought that the sheets were cool from the fan blowing on them. I soon realized that they were actually wet. I thought to my self, "Did I just....." I felt around the bed and the wet spot seemed to only be around my legs, but a little closer to Jamie's side of the bed. "Did she just..."
I sat up and said, "Why is the bed wet? Did you pee in the bed?" Jamie, being half asleep, looked around, and I know that she was thinking to herself, "I might have?" I was dry, she was dry, but the bed was wet. Did we have a leak in the roof? Was the window open to let the rain blow in? I was perplexed.
The wet feeling was only under the blankets not on top. This was very starnge. Was I bleeding profusely from an unknown wound in my leg? I searched for answers, but could find no cause for the wetness. I started to freak out thinking some kind of well dwelling demon had entered my bed and left it's mark. Were we visited by aliens that slime you during an abduction? Maybe the sandman had to relieve himself while stopping at our house. I had no clue what happened.
Jamie finally came out of her zombie like coma and said to me, "It might be a bottle?" First question, why is the bottle in our bed and not on the floor or table if it had liquid left in it and how much liquid was left in the bottle to make such a huge puddle in our bed? After searching for what seemed like eternity, I found the bottle. It was tucked away at the very foot of our bed and had left a trail as it made its way down. I gave Jamie the "Did you really do that" stare, but of course she could not see it in the dark. I am sure that she knew I was a little upset though. I guess that I will forgive her since she is the one that works the night shift with the baby and she is tired. I just hope that she does not start sleep walking and leaving dangerous items in the bed.
This ordeal started to concern me. Was I losing bladder control or even worse was my wife peeing on me? I know that women like to mark their territory, but sheesh, you don't have to spray me while I am asleep. I still might buy some depends anyway.

Toys a'R'e Us!
When we take Charlie out somewhere I always seem to find something little that I want to buy for him. Yesterday at Target I made it a point to avoid the toy aisle. As we were finishing up our shopping Jamie decided to go to, yes, "The Toy Aisle!"
We would grab a toy from the shelf and show it to Charlie to see if he was interested in it. He may only be four months old, but he knows what is going on. The first toy was something that spun like a top when you pushed the handle and he quickly shot that down. The next toy was a small ring with spinning block style "things" on it. No interest. Then Jamie grabbed a spherical toy that was colorful and had large holes in it that would be easy for Charlie to hold on to. Bingo! That was the one he wanted. He liked it so much that he snatched it out of Mommy's hands and proceeded to direct it to his never-ending drool fountain. Before we could stop him, he had left his mark.
The toy was secured firmly in his grasp and his tongue was going to town covering it in saliva. You know the saying, "If you lick it, Mommy and daddy have to buy it." We had been duped by a four month old. Oh, trust me, he knew what he was doing. Don't let that cute little smile fool you. It was hillarious to watch him try to get the ball in his mouth. He looked like a Giraffe trying to eat leaves from a branch. His neck stretched out, tongue going crazy and his strong little hands trying to rip it apart.
If we fell for this trick I can only imagine what Charlie's grandparents are going to end up buying him. "Charlie! Stop licking the Power-Wheels!" I may have to upgrade to an SUV to be able to bring home all of his new loot. I love my boy and want to make him happy, so I really didn't mind buying him a treat. Besides, he did just roll over for the first time. That is a pretty big accomplishment for a baby.
