Toys a'R'e Us!

When we take Charlie out somewhere I always seem to find something little that I want to buy for him. Yesterday at Target I made it a point to avoid the toy aisle. As we were finishing up our shopping Jamie decided to go to, yes, "The Toy Aisle!"

We would grab a toy from the shelf and show it to Charlie to see if he was interested in it. He may only be four months old, but he knows what is going on. The first toy was something that spun like a top when you pushed the handle and he quickly shot that down. The next toy was a small ring with spinning block style "things" on it. No interest. Then Jamie grabbed a spherical toy that was colorful and had large holes in it that would be easy for Charlie to hold on to. Bingo! That was the one he wanted. He liked it so much that he snatched it out of Mommy's hands and proceeded to direct it to his never-ending drool fountain. Before we could stop him, he had left his mark.

The toy was secured firmly in his grasp and his tongue was going to town covering it in saliva. You know the saying, "If you lick it, Mommy and daddy have to buy it." We had been duped by a four month old. Oh, trust me, he knew what he was doing. Don't let that cute little smile fool you. It was hillarious to watch him try to get the ball in his mouth. He looked like a Giraffe trying to eat leaves from a branch. His neck stretched out, tongue going crazy and his strong little hands trying to rip it apart.

If we fell for this trick I can only imagine what Charlie's grandparents are going to end up buying him. "Charlie! Stop licking the Power-Wheels!" I may have to upgrade to an SUV to be able to bring home all of his new loot. I love my boy and want to make him happy, so I really didn't mind buying him a treat. Besides, he did just roll over for the first time. That is a pretty big accomplishment for a baby.
